As well as the conventional three-year PhD research programme, we also have two other innovative routes to PhD:

- Doctoral Training Centres
Our two EPSRC Doctoral Training Centres provide four-year programmes in exciting new research areas, combining a first year of MSc study, followed by three years of PhD Research:
The Integrated PhD
A full-time four-year broad-based programme which combines an initial one-year specialist taught MSc course in either: Computer Science; Electronic Engineering; or Electrical Engineering.

I did my MSc in Microelectronic Systems Design in ECS and then stayed on for PhD research. This is an absolutely life-long experience: great teaching quality, advanced facilities, and a very friendly learning environment. It’s a fantastic university life and you can enjoy yourself at the same time.
